Paddlepalooza!

The event will take place on an 8-mile stretch of the Clinton River, beginning at Riverside Park in downtown Auburn Hills and ending at the Rivercrest Banquet Center at Avon & Livernois. Event includes a race for seasoned paddlers (canoe and kayak) or an untimed, adventure paddle for individuals to paddle the river…both options include fun on the water, great scenery, wildlife and lots of fresh air! A limited numbe of canoes and kayaks can be rented by the AH Community Center. Call 248-370-9353 for information. Pre-registration is advised.

Orion Veteran’s Memorial 5K Race

The 2nd Annual 5k Run/Walk (with a Patriotic twist!) will start on Broadway street just south of Flint Street in front of Sagebrush Cantina. Finish will be on Odanah Ave just west of the Memorial. Each participant to receive an event dog tag at the finish. Day of check in will take place at Lockhart’s BBQ in Lake Orion on Flint St starting at 10:30 am. Registration and packet pickup available Sunday, May 27th from Noon until 4 pm at Hanson’s Running Shop on the corner of Flint and Broadway. Event Shirts guaranteed to those registered by May 7th!

Wood Shop Safety Certification Course at the Sam Beauford Woodshop

We offer safety training classes to ensure everyone can enjoy their time in the shop. We teach the WCA skill standards curriculum - the only nationally recognized set of woodworking standards. Participants will learn proper technique on the table saw, jointer, planer, band saw, miter saw, radial arm saw, router table, nail guns, drill press and more. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate by mail and take home a tool box made during class. Ages 12 and up, registration required.

"Excavating Archaeology @ U-M: 1817-2017" brings together artifacts from the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology and the University of Michigan Museum of Anthropological Archaeology. On this tour, learn about the development of the collections at both museums and the development of archaeology as a discipline.
