FOOD FOR THOUGHT

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 08/17/2018
Let’s take a close look at one of the most popular subjects in art: FOOD! Whether it’s still life drawings, pop art prints, or paintings of cakes by Wayne Thiebaud, food has been used in art around the world and through the ages.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Let’s take a close look at one of the most popular subjects in art: FOOD! Whether it’s still life drawings, pop art prints, or paintings of cakes by Wayne Thiebaud, food has been used in art around the world and through the ages. Campers will really dig in this week as they:

  • Learn how to use color and value to make a drawing or painting of food appear realistic
  • Make a larger-than-life sculpture of a favorite food
  • Experiment with gelli plate printmaking techniques and create crazy, vibrant, colorful printed patterns using a variety of different foods

PLEASE NOTE: Campers are divided into groups based on the age they will be or turn during the week of camp they are attending. We do not make exceptions to the age minimums for each group nor for birthdays that fall after the end of the camp week.
