Are you driven by the spirit of inquiry? Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a wildlife biologist We’d love to give you the chance to find out how some of the world’s natural resources are measured and managed in a hands-on and scientific program. We will head out head out into the forest armed with scientific instruments and work together as we create an index of animal habitats here at Stony Creek Metropark. This time we’ll be focusing on the elusive Barred Owl. We’ll learn what makes good habitat for these birds and discover if our forests provide a suitable home for them. All our citizen scientist scientific data that we collect will be sent to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to help with their ongoing research. This program is entirely outdoors. Face coverings and social distancing are required. Ages 12 and up. Time: 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Cost: $5 per person Location: Stony Creek Metropark, Nature Center Pre-registration is required by March 12 before 5pm. Pre-register by calling (586) 781-9113.
