Media Literacy Workshop Series: Fake News and Propaganda Techniques

This two-part online workshop is designed to help community members spot fake news and identify propaganda techniques. We will provide an overview of what media literacy means, and practice skills to help us become critical media readers. Attend one or both sessions!

PART 1: RESOURCES FOR READING NEWS CRITICALLY
January 12 – 6:00-7:30pm
This first workshop’s focus is on resources for reading news critically, including how to evaluate sources, do a reverse image lookup, and more.

PART 2: PROPAGANDA TECHNIQUES
January 26 – 6:00-7:30pm
This second workshop’s focus is on propaganda techniques, including how to spot logical fallacies, special appeals, and more.
 
You must register in advance for this workshop. After registering, you will receive instructions about how to join both meetings.
 
SUGGESTED DONATION:
There is a suggested donation of $20 to attend the two-part workshop.
