Corn Maze & Apple Harvest at Great Country Farms

September may mean back to school for many, but at Great Country, it means back to the farm for freshly pressed cider and apple picking. Challenge the Stories from the Stars Corn Maze and learn about the constellations of the Zodiac. Celebrate everything apple with apple picking, our award-winning apple cider donuts, and a romp in our 12-acre play area. On Saturdays & Sundays, we add in live music, marshmallow roasting, pig races & cider pressing demonstrations. Check out the Zurschmeide Family’s antique 1865 Cider press. Sample freshly pressed cider and see how it used to be produced!

2023 DC State Fair

The 14th Annual DC State Fair at Franklin Park, Downtown Washington, DC will include contests, local vendors, and a celebration of the District’s agricultural, culinary, and creative talents. The DC State Fair is a free showcase of the District’s creative talents and a daylong celebration of all things homegrown. Inspired by time-honored state fair traditions—growing and gardening, contests, and deep-fried foods—the DC State Fair honors the things that make the District of Columbia unique. This means the DC State Fair holds competitions to find the tastiest mumbo sauce, best honey, the top photographers with a creative eye and puts on a Pet Parade instead of a pig race. We work with local businesses and organizations that are committed to helping our community thrive.
