ART HIVE Open Studio is a wonderful opportunity for budding and experienced artists of all ages to indulge in their creative impulses and explore their artistic abilities. During this three-hour session, students can experiment with various art materials, including acrylics, watercolors, oil pastels, colored pencils, collage materials, and more. The studio is filled with a plethora of art supplies that students can use to implement their ideas and create their masterpieces. They can even use recyclable materials, beach glass, driftwood, yarn, wool, and other natural items to add a unique touch to their creations.
It's important to note that ART HIVE Open Studio is a non-structured session, meaning no lessons are taught. Instead, students can explore their artistic abilities in a relaxed and supportive environment. A studio teaching artist will be present to supervise and help students with supplies, answer technical questions, problem-solve, and provide support. In each session, the teaching artist will showcase a lesson or technique (or two), such as pink eraser stamps, beach glass trees, driftwood weaving, wood burning, card making, etc.
The session is open to anyone between the ages of 3-17, with parents/guardians of kids ages 3 and 4 staying with them throughout the art-making process. For ages 5-17, parents/guardians can drop them off and check them in, allowing students to explore their creativity in a safe and welcoming space. Adults wanting a space to "spread out" or to get ideas, inspiration, and feedback will enjoy ART HIVE. Come with an open and curious mind or with a project in mind. We want to see the studio buzzing with creativity.
