Blackthorn invites you to take a musical trip to Ireland, just in time for St. Patrick's Day. The group's music captures the fun, beauty, and legend of Ireland and its people, ranging from hilarious Irish pub songs to lively jigs to haunting ancient airs that appeal to everyone, Irish or not. Blackthorn was named "Best Folk Band/Artist" by Detroit Metro Times readers.

What makes a Blackthorn show unique is the personal connection with the audience, and the variety of tunes, tempos, and textures. Tight vocal harmonies and exquisite musicianship are enhanced by Blackthorn's variety of instruments including the wooden flute, tin whistle, five-string banjo, cittern, accordion, bones, guitar, bass, and more.

Blackthorn has appeared at the world-renowned Milwaukee Irish fest, as well as the prestigious Michigan Irish Festival. The group has recorded seven CDs, with tracks that include groups such as the Michigan Opera Theater. Lead singer Richard McMullan, who hails from Belfast, has been featured internationally during the broadcast of the Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony and has also toured with The Irish Rovers. Blackthorn's members have said that the Farmington Players Barn is their favorite place to perform, due to the proximity to the audience and the Barn's wonderful acoustics.

The Farmington Players Barn Theater is located at 32332 Twelve Mile Road in Farmington Hills. Tickets may be charged by calling 248-473-1848, purchased at the Costick Center located at 28600 W.
