During this 2-hour ONLINE session, I will facilitate short expressive arts exercises that will help you in tap into your intuitive mind. This is NOT a traditional art class. It is about working with the process and following its threads through different art modalities, such as visual art, movement, writing, music, poetry, or drama. Because it is about the process of being creative and expressing from within, it is less about the product. A satisfying product is lovely – and our work can be quite beautiful – but it is not the primary objective. What you create is an inquiry you’ve made and your heart’s answer to it.
A Spontaneous Visual Dialogue - You will not be creating alone! I typically create art alongside you to deepen my intuition and spontaneously and visually dialogue with you and the others in the group. Creating together deepens honesty and insight, intensifying the session into a living, breathing, visual conversation.
Expressive Arts Exercises: Each session, spontaneously created at the moment, might include a short collage, poetry, storytelling, painting, or drawing exercises. You don't have to have experience in any modality; all of my creative invitations do not require prior art or writing experience. We begin thinking about a particular theme, poem, or image, journaling our responses to it, then participate in a simple grounding guided meditation, make art, journal about the experience with prompts, and then share our ah-has and insights with others. It's a simple, fun, and sometimes deeply insightful process. Although we meet almost every Saturday, each session stands alone, so you don't have to attend every week.
Art and Writing Materials: Please bring a pen, journal, sketchbook, or paper and the media of your choice. After you sign up, I'll guide you on what to bring. I can even provide a free-consultation call if you have questions, or you can email them to sasha@artworksmichigan.com
Typically in these sessions, we will explore your higher visions for your life and what is holding you back from actualizing them.
What you can expect in your session:
- Comradeship and connection in the art-making process.
- Deeper insights into your creative process than you would find when creating alone.
- An amplification of inspiration for your creative process.
- Enjoyment of the creative process in dialogue with another.
- A deeper experience of the intuitive art process.
- Safe, professional guidance in the expressive arts.
- A creative exploration of how your emotional pain blocks your highest self-expression.
- Intuitive insights from outside of your personal mind and access to greater inspiration than you might access through thought alone.
- The "felt" understanding of your emotions in visual form.
- New ways to describe your feelings through spontaneous art and wordplay.
According to therapist and author Shelly Klammer, there are benefits of meditational creativity:
- Meditative creativity deepens insight into what you have expressed and helps you to access a deeper understanding of your art.
- Meditative creativity improves concentration and deepens the emotional experience of your intuitive art.
- Meditative creativity increases self-acceptance of what you have created.
- Meditative creativity expands consciousness beyond everyday levels of thinking. It taps into traditional and contemporary wisdom, integrating creativity and meditation to free us from patterns of thought and conditioning that keeps us stuck and helps us connect meaningfully to the world around us.
I hope you decide to ART with me!
