Beginning Bonsai
President of the Michiana Bonsai Club, Larry Benjamin, will teach the class. He is an experienced Bonsai grower and will offer students a unique learning experience. At this class, you will learn how to wire, trim, and water your tree. Supplies included: a Brazilian Rain Tree, an 8” bonsai pot and specialized bonsai soil from Japan. Please bring your own gloves, if needed. 18+ only, please. This class will take place outdoors; please dress for the weather. Should we have severe weather, we reserve the right to reschedule; your registration will be moved. Sorry, no refunds. Registration includes admission to the Gardens, so come for the class, stay for the Gardens!

Japanese Garden Design
David Rettig, Owner – Rettig Garden Fostering & Stewardship
David is the garden builder of Wellfield’s Peace Garden and is the aesthetic pruner for the Island and Peace Garden. David’s class will focus on the design principles and philosophies of Japanese Gardens that create these tranquil spaces. Class will include an informal stroll through the Peace Garden highlighting what was taught, with opportunities for questions and comments. Discover the ideas behind the artistry that have connected people to nature and themselves for over a millennia in the Japanese Garden tradition.
