The 2016 Motor Muster celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Chevrolet Camaro. In September of 1966, the Chevrolet Camaro, and its sister, the Pontiac Firebird, were introduced as part of the new General Motors 1967 line-up. These “pony” cars were General Motor’s answer to the hugely successful Ford Mustang, introduced in April of 1964 as a 1965 model. Following Ford’s lead of basing the Mustang on its compact Falcon chassis, the Camaro was based on Chevrolet’s Nova. Again, much like the  Mustang, the buyer’s choices of options for power trains and trim packages were huge, including a Rally Sport option that boasted a deluxe interior and hidden headlights. Camaro, a RS/SS convertible, was the official pace car for the 1967 Indianapolis 500. The first generation Camaro is now a true icon of the mid-1960s Pony Car era and saw continuous production until 2002. After a nearly 10 year hiatus, the Camaro lives again, now in its sixth generation.

For the entire weekend, the streets and lawns of Greenfield Village will be filled with hundreds of classic cars, vintage trucks, motorcycles, military vehicles, bicycles — even a fire engine or two. They'll all be here, from brawny muscle cars to the straight-out-of-the-showroom cars you and your parents grew up with. Stroll the grounds and meet the owners who lavish attention on these wonders of rolling history. There's the Saturday night, 1960s dance show with dancing in the streets 'til 9pm. A one-of-a-kind event for cars and the people who love them.
