Alexandra Barbato, Meaghan McTammany, and Ashley Moss Fox, Directors
July 13-17, 2020
Morning Session: 10:00 am-1:00 pm
Afternoon Session: 12:00-3:00 pm
for students entering grades 6-12, NYSSMA Level 3-6
NOTE: This class is now being offered virtually. Online instruction with Hochstein is easy! To find out more about the technical requirements, click here.
The morning session will include workshops on tone, scales and arpeggios, etudes, solo repertoire, and more, designed to help you refine your playing and develop a foundation for your daily practice routine.
The afternoon session, “Flute in Other Ways," will include the opportunity to focus on more creative aspects of music-making as a flutist. These offerings may include work in small virtual ensembles, composing and arranging (learning how to use free, online notation programs), and mini-lessons with our instructors.
From 12:00-1:00 pm every day, students from both sessions will join together to observe and participate in guest artist experiences and group discussions, as well as yoga and mindfulness for musicians. This will not be a playing session, so those participating can eat lunch while watching or chatting in a group discussion. Sign up for both morning and afternoon sessions and experience a full-day camp!
The daily sessions will be held via Zoom. A Zoom-compatible device is required for participation, such as a smartphone, laptop, or tablet that has a basic video recording capability and a microphone.
Fee: $10 registration fee; $185* tuition per session; Morning and Afternoon Sessions Combined: $310* tuition.
SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY! One full-tuition scholarship is available to flutists attending the RFA/Hochstein Flute Camp. The Alleen Fraser Scholarship is provided through the Rochester Flute Association. Scholarship application deadline is June 24, 2020. A video recording of one piece that shows the student's best playing is due by July 1, 2020.
