Seussical, presented by the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre, will feature performances by 145 talented young local actorson May 5 - 8 at the Costick Center. The colorful characters transport the audience from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. This whimsical stage production is a fun experience for the whole family!
Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza. Favorite Dr. Seuss characters are brought to life, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and Jojo, a little boy with a big imagination.
The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant that discovers a speck of dust containing Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge - not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, he must also guard an abandoned egg left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
Performances are on Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m., Friday, May 6 at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m. & 6 p.m., and Sunday, May 8 at 1 p.m. & 6 p.m. Tickets are $10; children 3 and under are free.
