Kristen Terteling has been our day camp riding instructor for the past two summers. Kristen has over 30 years of horse experience. She has successfully competed in hunting, jumping and dressage. She has worked at the Royal Lipizzaner show and the Mid Evil Times, and now trains and gives private lessons. Kristen's ability with horses is impressive but as important, her ability to communicate those skills with children is incredible.
Horse Camp Overview
To begin each day, we will have a one hour riding lesson. Following the lesson we will have an instructional session, consisting of all aspects of horsemanship including: leading, grooming, tacking, diet, and horse health. Each day we will have a horse related activity or game. We will have snack time leading into some free choice time. Our day will conclude with another block of riding time and horse games and activities.
Each Thursday we will have a theme for the day. Themes may include Native American designs and a parade. The horses will be decorated and dressed to impress.
Each Friday there will be a horse show to demonstrate the skill the campers have learned throughout the week. Friends and family will be invited to attend.
