August 24 – 30 is Navy Week in Detroit. Detroit Navy Week is designed to provide Metro Detroiters an opportunity to learn about the Navy, its people, and its importance to national security and prosperity.
U.S. Navy Band Performance
August 25, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
The Navy band, “Brass Ambassadors,” will perform August 25 at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Weather permitting, performances will be held outside the Michigan Science Center at no cost.
Ask the Expert: U.S. Navy Divers
August 28, 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Navy divers will be on site from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. to discuss their work, explain the technology that helps them do their job and demonstrate their gear. An Ask the Expert session will be held on the Chrysler Science Stage at 12:30 p.m.
U.S. Navy STEM Truck Demos
August 28, 10:30 am - 2:30 pm
We’re hosting the Navy STEM truck August 28 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. in our parking lot. The STEM truck is the Navy’s portal, interactive lab, demonstrating the importance of STEM in the Navy’s work. Visit us and try your hand at some of the Navy’s latest technology.
U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery
August 28, 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery will be at MiSci with Navy doctors, nurses and researchers who will discuss their work and the importance of STEM. Just look for the Navy booth in the Health and Wellness Gallery.
